SAT prep — taught by 1500–1600 teachers, targeting 1400+ and 1500+

The SAT is College Board's standardized test, used for admission to US universities and to a growing number of universities in Vietnam. Since 2024 the SAT has been taken entirely on computer (Digital SAT).

  • Scale 400–1600
  • SAT 1500–1600 teachers
  • Students scoring 1510–1570

Real scores · Real teachers · Real results — teachers hold at least IELTS 8.0 or SAT 1500, and international programmes are taught by PhD and Master's holders.

What is the SAT and why it matters

The SAT is the College Board's standardised test used for admission to US universities and many universities worldwide. Since 2024 the SAT has been taken entirely in the Bluebook app: two sections, Reading and Writing and Math, each with two adaptive modules, scored on a 400–1600 scale.

The three tests complement each other rather than replace each other: the lower tier is a requirement, the upper tier is what makes an application stand out.
1One common yardstick for every application

SAT scores let universities compare students from different school systems — transcripts from Vietnam and from the US are read on the same scale.

2Opens the door to scholarships

Many universities and scholarship programmes use the SAT in admissions; a high score helps your application stand out among international applicants.

3Several test dates a year

The international SAT runs several times a year and can be retaken; many universities consider your highest score — see the schedule and score-sending rules below.

4Short, adaptive, calculator allowed

About 2 hours 14 minutes; module 2 is harder or easier depending on your module 1 results; the Desmos calculator built into Bluebook can be used throughout the Math section.

SAT score scale and conversion

Total score 400–1600 = Reading and Writing (200–800) + Math (200–800), in 10-point increments. Percentile = % of test takers scoring at or below you. 'User group' is based on actual test takers from the 3 most recent graduating classes; 'Nationally representative' is a representative sample of US Grade 11–12 students. ACT equivalents follow the official 2018 concordance tables (College Board + ACT) — the tables currently published by the College Board.

What SAT scores are used for

US university admissions — many top universities have reinstated SAT/ACT requirements

According to official admissions pages (checked Oct 2026): MIT, Harvard, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania and Caltech require the SAT or ACT; Princeton reinstates the requirement from the 2027-28 admissions cycle (still optional for 2026-27). Yale accepts superscores; Harvard allows substitution with other credentials only in exceptional cases — see each page.

  • Allowed: a watch without an alarm, food and drinks for the break, backup devices.
Not allowed
  • Phones and all other electronic devices (smartwatches, smart glasses…) are collected; violations result in cancelled scores.
  • Calculators with CAS, devices with a QWERTY keyboard, network/Bluetooth connectivity or a camera are not allowed; calculators may not be used during Reading and Writing.
Late arrival
  • Doors close at 8:00 (per the sample timetable; see your admission ticket); once testing has begun you cannot enter and must re-register.
Scores & score sending
  • Scores are available after about 2–4 weeks (2026-27 schedule: 13–16 days) in your College Board account.
  • 4 free score sends — can be changed within 9 days after the test; after that $15 each.
  • Score Choice: choose to send by test date (does not apply to the 4 free score sends); universities may require all scores.
Score cancellation
  • Cancel your scores no later than 11:59 pm ET exactly one week after the test date; cancelled scores cannot be reinstated.
Retakes
  • No limit on the number of attempts; the College Board recommends testing at least twice (spring of Grade 11 and fall of Grade 12).
Score validity
  • Scores are kept in your College Board record; older scores can still be sent via the archived scores service ($35). How long scores are accepted is set by each university (e.g. VNU University of Engineering and Technology in 2026 only accepts scores within 2 years of the test date).

Scoring

  • Each correct answer = 1, wrong/blank = 0; NO penalty for wrong answers (the College Board advises answering every question and eliminating options when unsure).
  • The scaled score is calculated using Item Response Theory (IRT): it depends on the number of correct answers, question characteristics (difficulty…) and whether the response pattern shows signs of guessing — two test takers with the same number of correct answers on different forms may get different scores.
  • Each module has 2 unscored pretest questions that look exactly like real questions; the section score is based only on the operational questions in both modules.
  • Module 2 is assigned based on module 1 performance (harder or easier than average); section scores 200–800, total 400–1600.
  • The paper practice tests (PDF) use the conversion table in the scoring guide and give a score RANGE (lower–upper bound), not an exact score.
The Chief Reader notes
  • (College Board, Assessment Framework 2024) Questions testing the same skill are grouped together and ordered from easy to hard — pace yourself and don't get stuck on one question.
  • (College Board, Assessment Framework 2024) There is no penalty for wrong answers; if unsure, eliminate 1–2 options and choose — never leave a question blank.
  • (College Board, What to Expect on Test Day) Use the annotation and mark-for-review tools in Bluebook; within a module you can go back to earlier questions, but not once you move to the next module.
Recent changes
  • Mar 2023: the international SAT (including Vietnam) moved fully to digital testing, with a shorter test and one short passage per question instead of long reading passages.
  • Mar 2024: the SAT in the US went digital.
  • 2026-27: the 54-question/64-minute structure stays the same; SAT Weekend scores usually arrive after 2–4 weeks (2026-27 calendar: 13–16 days).
