Trần Đại Nghĩa Grade 6 entrance prep — Trọng Điểm 4 and Trọng Điểm 5
Trần Đại Nghĩa Secondary and High School admits Grade 6 students through a 90-minute aptitude assessment, most of it in English. The same paper format is also used for Hoa Lư, Trần Quốc Toản and Bình Thọ.
Real scores · Real teachers · Real results — teachers hold at least IELTS 8.0 or SAT 1500, and international programmes are taught by PhD and Master's holders.
The Trần Đại Nghĩa Grade 6 exam — what you need to know
What's tested
Part 1: 20 multiple-choice questions in English (30 minutes) on natural science, social science and general knowledge. Part 2: a 60-minute written paper covering English, Maths and logical thinking, and Vietnamese.
2026 figures
350 places, about 4,200 applications, and a cut-off score of 76.25/100 — the highest ever.
Exam dates
Held once a year in early summer (in 2026: 1 July), with results announced about a week later.
Why it is hard
The paper weaves several fields into a single question and asks it in English — question-spotting does not work; the foundations must be in place from Grade 4.
Who should study
Grade 4 and Grade 5 students in Ho Chi Minh City aiming for Trần Đại Nghĩa or other schools that admit by aptitude assessment.
